Aretha Tillotson is a world class bassist in town with the Mirvish musical SIX. She is usually teaching at Berklee College of Music in Boston or at MacEwan University in Edmonton. We are lucky to have her here in Toronto and I want to share her wisdom with my music-minded friends. We will be discussing and demonstrating accompanying someone else's solo and how to create musical moments while also remaining steady for the soloist. We will discuss learning tunes, improvising, and the masters that we always return to in our own study. The house concert will feature our favourite tunes, originals of both of our creation, and some very spontaneous arrangements. This is for BOTH the 4pm workshop and the 7:30pm house concert.
